Suzuki SX4

Suzuki develops and sells the compact car known as the Suzuki SX4 since 2006.


Aerio was replaced by SX4 as it is been designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro’s Italdesign studio. American Motors were using this designation for a sporty look for its AMC Eagle passenger cars.[3]

Though, made only for the European market, but was sold mostly in international markets. In 2006, this was presented at Geneva Motor Show, manufactured at Magyar Suzuki in Esztergom, Japan, Hungary, Inida and Manesar. Out of 60,000 units produced, 2/3 for Suzuki to sell and 1/3 by Fiat named as Sedici.


Similar to Swift, engines are 1.5-litre gasoline unit, 1.6-litre gasoline (with VVT) for highest output of 102 PS, 1.6-litre VVT from the Grand Vitara and 107 PS (79 kW), 1.6-litre DDIS also with Fiat diesel engine for the highest output of 120 PS (88 kW) and torque of 280 N·m (207 ft·lbf).

Initially it was a body style with five-door hatchback, with 300 litres (270 litres VDA) of boot space, fold rear seats as per 60:40 split. In 2007, Sedan model was started at New York Auto Show and was released in a couple of countries then.

The SX4 was initially released as a five-door hatchback body style, marketed as the SX4 Crossover. With boot space of 300 litres (270 litres VDA) and 60:40 split fold rear seats, they have a tumble/roll configuration that allows for an uninterrupted flat load area up to a maximum volume of 1,045 litres (625 litres VDA).[4] Suzuki Aerio sedan and also the Daewoo-based Suzuki Forenza sedan and station wagon [5] were replaced by this.


Suzuki’s entry level model AWD vehicle arrived in 2006 and the difference was the engine of single 2.0 L J20A 143 hp (107 kW) inline-4 gasoline, thus making a successful sale for the year.


Pricing at MSRP US $16,870, came with features like 5-door hatchback, power windows, power door locks, CD player with MP3 capability, power mirrors and keyless entry, traction control, anti-lock brakes and stability control.


Then came SX4 sedans with Bluetooth, gas station locator  and GPS navigation systems made by Garmin. In Israel and Malaysia, 1.6 litre FWD hatchback and 1.6 litre FWD sedan models were available and in Indonesia, only 1.5-litre engine was offered.


On the AWD version, SX4 five-door hatchback with .6-litre DOHC VVT petrol engine, 2.0-litre DOHC engine and 2.0 litre DDiS engine (16 valve, 135 PS (99 kW; 133 hp) & 320 N·m (240 lb·ft) torque) was made available. Little modifications were made as per the regulations of Euro 5 getting more power.

Featuring either 4-speed automatic transmission for 1.6 litre engine cars, six-speed manual or or CVT automatic transmission with paddle shifters for 2.0 litre I4 engine cars. Also coming with the Electronic Stability Program, rear (solid) disc brakes, Anti-lock Braking System and 6 airbags as option in 1.6 litre models.
