Since 2004, the Japanese automaker Nissan has been producing a mini MPV, named the Nissan Note. In Japanese market, the Note went on sale in 2004, while the European version of Note went on sale in 2006. On March 1, 2006, the United Kingdom became the first European country where Note was launched. The Note shares many of its features with the Renault Modus and the Note was launched to compete with vehicles like Opel Merica, Citroen C3 Picasso and Renault Modus. It was regarded as an indirect successor to the traditional medium-sized Almera hatchback and manufactured at Nissan’s plant situated in Washington, England where Almera was assembled up till November 2006. Tiida is considered as the direct successor of the Almera in Europe. Interestingly, Tiida isn’t imported to United Kingdom officially rather it reaches through the Arnold Clark dealership network from Republic of Ireland in March 2009.

This 5-door hatchback is based on Nissan B platform and comes in three different engine options including: 1.4-L CR14DE (88 hp) I4 gasoline, 1.6-L HR16DE (110 hp) I4 gasoline and 1.5-L K9K (90 hp) I4 diesel mated either to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The boomerang-shaped rear light clusters make the car even more impressive.

Three different versions of Nissan Note are offered, i.e. S, SE and SVE. The base model or S version featured full electric windows, alloy wheels and front fog lights or the Flexi-Board Boot system. The SE features 16-inch alloy wheels, Air conditioner, front fog lights and Flexi-Board Boot system. The SVE came with Climate Control, Rear Privacy Glass, 17-inch alloy wheels and ESP (Electronic Stability Control).

These three versions have been replaced later by Visia, Acenta, Acenta R and the Tekna. Of these four, Visia is very much similar to the previous ‘S’ version, while the rest of all now come standard with MP3 Auxiliary jack and Bluetooth Car Stereo. The UK market receives the five different versions of the Note including: Visia, Visia+, Acenta, Acenta S, and Tekna. All these versions feature four airbags, a single CD player, remote central locking, electric front windows, electric door mirrors and a sliding rear seat.
